Following a six year break, BBC Three is to return to TV screens in January 2022.
Proving to be a huge success online with the likes of Fleabag, Killing Eve and Normal People; people have long called for BBC Three's return to the small screen. Research conducted by the BBC suggested that there would be a "strong case" for its return as a regular TV channel, focusing primarily on younger audiences.
Last year, the BBC announced that it would double the channel's budget. BBC's chief content officer, Charlotte Moore said: "The BBC needs to back success and make sure its programmes reach as many young people as possible." When it returns, the channel will be targeted at audiences aged 16-34 and broadcast from 19:00 to 04:00 each day.
The move will still need approval from media regulator, Ofcom, before it can go ahead.
