A THANK YOU: Prince William thanks the Welsh Ambulance Service for their efforts

The Duke of Cambridge has thanked colleagues at the Welsh Ambulance Service for their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prince William spoke on the phone to Chris Powell, Area Manager for NHS 111 Wales, the health advice and information service hosted by the Welsh Ambulance Service and which has been a pivotal part of the Trust’s Covid-19 effort.

They discussed the continued delivery and development of the 111 and NHS Direct services in Wales during the pandemic, including the need to revise its telephony and digital services to deliver important healthcare advice and information in the face of a huge increase in demand.

Chris said: “I was honoured to take this call on behalf of all Welsh Ambulance staff. I wish to relay HRH Prince William’s thanks to all the team in recognition of all their hard work and dedication to serving the public during the pandemic.”

NHS 111 Wales is the free-to-use non-emergency telephone advice service which is currently being rolled out across Wales.

The service is available 24/7 for those who are ill or injured and unsure what to do, and is comprised of call handlers and clinicians, including GPs, nurses, advanced nurse practitioners, paramedics and pharmacists.
