A GRAND OPENING: The Grand Hotel reveals its £45m refurb as the historic venue opens its doors
We’re used to the idea that during the pandemic, so many hospitality venues had to close, but the one we visited has been closed for almost two decades.
It’s one of over 20,000 Grade ||* listed buildings and it’s welcomed back guests after a £45m pound refurb.
Peter Kienast is the General Manager at The Grand Hotel Birmingham and has worked in the hospitality industry for over three decades, but nothing could have prepared him for the past year.
The Grand Hotel’s grand £45m refurb saw the impressive historic spaced transformed, with 185 rooms, the Madeline bar and a few nods to its original opening back in 1879 in the ballroom.
Adam Bateman is Culinary Director at the Grand - he explains what he’s most excited about.
As the industry continues to recover, and the grand shows off it’s impressive facelift, it’s all about getting people out to once again discover the power of hospitality.
