PORTUGAL PULLED BY GOV: As Travel Experts and Brits continue to react to a dampener being put on holiday plans
Reaction continues as Portugal’s pulled from the UK’s green travel list, adding no new countries either, with Brits rushing back before new quarantine rules kicked in.
In 2019, outbound travel contributed over £3.7bn to the UK economy, supporting 220,000 jobs. One travel expert described the move as a “heavy blow”
...And the public aren’t too impressed either
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has though defended the move.
Meanwhile Labour have criticised the government’s approach.
Paul Charles, chief executive of travel consultancy The PC Agency, said the decision to remove Portugal from the travel green list was "a heavy blow" for the industry.
