ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION: Has Lockdown made us drink more or less?
The UK is the only country among 21 nations where alcohol consumption went up during the Covid pandemic, according to new research.
Results revealed that people in Ireland and Germany drunk the same amount of wine, beer and spirits as they did before Covid, but rates fell in 18 other European countries. Researchers believe Brits used alcohol as a coping mechanism to get through the pandemic.
This comes as UK Covid cases went up by 74% in a week to 7,540, with experts suggesting we need a few more weeks to see the full impact on hospital admissions.
Has the pandemic impacted your drinking habits? Why do you think Britain tops the table? Do you think restrictions should remain the same for a few more weeks to be safe, or should Freedom Day go ahead on June 21?iN
