FULL CAPACITY: Premier League can expect grounds to be at full capacity

According to reports, the Premier League have been told they can expect grounds to be at full capacity for the start of the 2021/22 season.

As a result of the government plans to ease restrictions on the 19th July, The Guardian are reporting that the Premier League clubs can expect to operate at full capacity when the season starts.

It has been well over two years since football grounds in England have been full with that sight not being seen since March 2019. Clubs were allowed to operate at around 25% capacity for the last two games of the 2020/21 season as was the case for the Euro 2020 group games held at Wembley.

However, that was expanded to 50% capacity for England’s win over Germany in the last 16 with around 45,000 fans witnessing that historic performance.

The Premier League clubs have suffered financially due to the lack of supporters in the stadium with Deloitte reporting a cumulative pre-tax loss of £1 billion for the 2019/20 season due to fans not being allowed in.

However, that is nothing on the emotional loss felt by the teams as games have missed the energy of crowds and football in general has really been without its soul. The good news for supporters is that they will soon be back to full capacity according to reports.
