Racism probe at Cardiff City FC academy and double vaxxed paramedic struck down with Covid urges other to remain vigilant.
The Welsh Conservatives have responded to Cardiff City FC being investigated for racism. A youngster in the club’s academy is alleged to have been subjected to ‘monkey noises’ and had bananas rubbed on his clothes. Shadow Minister for Sport, Tom Giffard said he was horrified to hear the allegations, and is pleased the FA is taking swift action.
He said “I was horrified to hear about the alleged abuse that this young footballer was subjected to, and I am pleased to see the FA taking swift action.
“It is important that clubs not only train these players to be the best they can on the pitch, but also as human beings.
“It is incumbent on football academies to provide a safe environment for these young players.”
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Equalities, Altaf Hussain, added:
“Distressing and appalling racist incidents in sport are becoming more frequent and it’s vital that we do more to tackle the issue.
“Racism in sport – either online or in person – is simply unacceptable, and governments, sports bodies and clubs need to work together to stamp it out for good.”
