REVENGE: Klopp not focused on Burnley ending Anfield run

REVENGE: Klopp not focused on Burnley ending Anfield run

Jürgen Klopp says he does not have revenge on his mind ahead of his Liverpool side welcoming Burnley to Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds lost their unbeaten home record against Sean Dyche's side last season during a poor run of form that seen their title defence slip away.

Liverpool lost 1-0 after Ashley Barnes scored for Burnley to earn a famous win at Anfield, ending a 68-game unbeaten run for the Reds.

However, Reds boss Klopp says he hadn't been thinking of revenge ahead of the clash.

"Not in the moment sitting here, I didn’t even think about it," Klopp told the press ahead of the game.

"When I think about that game, it was a strange one, but yes we lost it. Burnley won it. That's how football is.

"It's obviously nothing to do with the game now. It's our first home game in front of our crowd for five hundred and twenty-something days I think and we want to enjoy that.

The Kop will be full, as will the rest of Anfield, for the first time since Atletico Madrid knocked the Reds out of the Champions League in March 2020.

The Liverpool boss expressed how he felt ahead of the stand being full of fans once again and was asked to compare it to the Yellow Wall at his old club Borussia Dortmund.

"Both are great stands, incredibly important. The benchmark for the club," Klopp said as he thought about the fans returning for the Burnley game.

"If you think about Dortmund, you think about the Yellow Wall. When you are on these stands, you go there just for football. If they get on their toes the whole stadium will follow.

"I can’t wait to feel this connection again. We are blessed with a really good crowd. Now in this moment, everybody wants to enjoy each second in the stadium."
