TOUGH GAME: Klopp preparing for big clash despite United form

Jürgen Klopp wasn't "rubbing his hands together" after watching Manchester United against Atalanta in midweek and says he is preparing Liverpool for a tough game.

The Reds' opponents this weekend were 2-0 down at halftime against Atalanta in Champions League action which led former United star Paul Scholes to suggest Klopp would be enjoying what he was seeing.

However, Klopp confirmed that was not the case and he was preparing for a tough trip to Old Trafford against a United side he called "a really good opponent."

"There was not one second when I was rubbing my hands [together], I can say that," Klopp said about watching the United game against Atalanta in preparation for his Liverpool side facing them on Sunday.

"If you watch the game, then you obviously could see that Atalanta caused United, in the first half, some problems, but even in that half I think United had three clear cut chances.

"The second half was a pure power presentation of United. They went for it and with the quality they have they can cause any team problems - especially when you stop playing football, which Atalanta did a little bit.

"I prepare the team for a tough game against a really good opponent. We've been long enough together we all know the importance of this game. It's a really good football team they have."

Klopp also confirmed that Curtis Jones returns to full training on Friday and will be in contention to play against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds midfielder picked up an injury on England U21s duty which has kept him out of the squad for the wins against Watford and Atletico Madrid.

However, Thiago Alcantara will not be available for the Reds against United and Klopp suggested his return may not come until after the international break.

"Curtis will train with us today, completely. He trained already, in parts of training, before we went to Atletico, so he should be in contention.

"Thiago, not. He was not in team training yet and will not be this week for sure.

"He's running meanwhile so that's a good sign. I'm not sure - maybe it's before the international or for sure after the international break. That's what we expect, but we will see."
